What is mincraft

I have watched some youtube episodes and some streams, but I have never understoof the true objective behind it. Or is there even a true objective, or is it designed in the way so you can do whatever you please?

Minecraft is basicly as open as a game could ever be.

You are basicly free to do pretty much anything you want to do, like go mining and get better tools/armor, explore caves, dungeons, old mineshafts,fight monsters, enter the Nether and explore even more, but there isnt really a definitive goal. However recently they added The End where you basicly have to gather some high end items to create a portal that will lead you to The End where you fight a boss,the EnderDragon, which will start an ending if you beat him. However,thats not really your goal,just something you could do if you want to work towards something.

Also, a lot of people play custom maps / adventure maps where you actually get an objective in a world someone built and that works out a lot like pretty much a First person Adventure game with all the Minecraft stuff to it.

Some people might find it weird and a turn off that it doesnt have a clear goal, but thats also where a big part of the game comes in that a lot of people love: you start making your own goal and push yourself into doing crazy stuff and work towards creating something that might not serve a particular purpose at first but gives you that awesome feeling of "I have done this!", and that easily makes Minecraft very addictive for a lot of people,because you keep pushing yourself, setting yourself new goals when you completed your old one, to create ALL THE THINGS.

The reason why I play it is mainly because the building part of the game is very simple and fun. Whether it be building simple houses or complicated structures.

Other people like it for the adventure part but I think it's liked so much because it's so simple and customizable. So you can basically make it to whatever you want it to be.

I play minecraft for the huge communties one can find around the interwebz. I am currently playing with a 50-60 person PvP, custom modded RPG server. While the conflicts and chat can usually be brutal with trolling and everything, you can find a few good people there. I have made quite a few friends playing on different minecraft servers, skyping occasionally and just having a good time!
